StreetURCHIN | AN URBAN TENT FOR CHICAGO’S HOMELESS

This project started with an invitation for the IDC to exhibit work in the Pass It On: Connecting Contemporary Do-It-Yourself Culture exhibition hosted by the A+D Gallery in Chicago. In response, the IDC decided that rather than produce a presentation to proclaim the greatness of our work, we would create an exhibition that would challenge others to do work for great things. –more–

COMMUNAL PLAY [a PLAYHOUSE + GARDENS for ABANDONED CHILDREN]

During the building abroad program of 2006, IDC students would travel to Oradea, Romania to design and build a playground for abandoned or at-risk children. Wanting to build off the success of their spring semester work, the team worked diligently before leaving to uncover a method of working with commonly discarded materials. –more–
